Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year! We did it! We made it through to another year. No matter how we got here, starting today, we can make this year, 2023, our year to do anything and everything we want. Why? Because why not.

Why not just work on goals and maybe achieve them this time around. The only difference, the goals we set should be realistic. Make them as simple and reasonable as possible. That way as each day goes by smaller goals can be accomplished ultimately motivating us to keep the ball rolling.

I’m overwhelmingly excited already. The gap between the things I can do and the things I’ll actually be able to finish is a decent size. So in order for me NOT to burn myself out in these first few months, I’m going to have to drag some ideas out. Everything is possible but not always in the expected timeframe set. Nonetheless I’m going to do my best in attempting as many small and reasonable goals as I can. Starting it off with publishing this blog post.

My Small and Reasonable List of Goals this Year

I find it interesting to see where a person starts and how they are doing when it comes to following lists. Some people are really good at it. But that could be because they use their list as a guild line rather than a strict plan that has to be followed or else. The “or else” part being self disappointment, frustration, giving up, and all the other negative things you could feel about yourself. To avoid that make this list simple, general and making sure you put in big letters at the top of it, “NO TIMEFRAME”.

Work on your goal list with it in the back of your head. Something to go back to and think, “Oh, I already did that” or “Oh yeah, that gives me something to do today”. Not, “oh no” or “still?”. Instantly you will be discourage the moment you allow yourself a negative thought on something that should be fun and rewarding.

Here’s my list:

  • Finish a project, post it
  • Write at least once a week
  • Publish a blog post at least once every two weeks
  • Utilize social media platforms more
  • Go on a family vaction
  • Date night once every two weeks
  • Take more pictures
  • Draw something

Just a small and reasonable list that doesn’t put much pressure on me. Something I can look back at, at the end of the year, and see overall what I accomplished with no need to check off “done” on any of them.

I’m Excited for this Year

I’m a big fan of scrape books, going through pictures and just seeing in front of me the things I made with my own hands. For some reason, having something I can physically reach out and touch creates this rewarding feeling inside. I don’t know if I described that right but it equates to eating food to fill a hunger that derived from stress and boredom. It just fills my soul with happiness.

So if I can stay on track with this list, there will hopefully be a lot of pictures of my family and I. I can make my own photo album and have it accumulate dust until special occasions arise. Then I can bring it out for to look through and we can enjoy those memories together all over again. This is what I’m most excited about for this new year and I really hope future me can make this happen, but no pressure.

Besides that, the rest of my list is more stay motivated stuff for me to do. If I can keep in mind that I’m an artist and I started off my journey with drawing with pencil on paper, I feel that will keep me going. Otherwise, my sketch books will continue to be filled with blank pages like every other year and I won’t be able to buy more… so all I can is tell myself little things like that and that should help at least get me started. No matter what though I will continue to be excited and proud of whatever I create. And that’s all I need.

Thank You!

Thank you for reading through my post. If you weren’t excited before I hope this might have peaked your interest in making this year more positive and fun and hopefully not as stressful as other years might have been. I wish you all a beautiful and loving year filled with your greatest happiness. Thank you again for reading this post and Happy New Year!!
