Dream Jaguar

The Dream I Woke Up To

Let me tell you about the dream I woke up to.

Last Night’s Dream Started

Walking along a river’s edge, I watched the water flow passed me, until my vision locked onto a dark pile of something further up ahead. I’m not sure what it was and even as I got closer I couldn’t quite make it out. Just a fuzzy shadowy mess of shaded in squiggles like an overly crossed out bad thought you wrote down but wanted to forget. I approached it slowly and it turned to me. Underneath, what I realized was tangled netting, a roughed up toddler covered in dirt smiled at me with a clean set of perfect teeth.

“Hi,” they spoke with a cute little voice but with two other echoed voices slightly heard with it.

“Are you okay? Do you need help? Where are your parents?” I questioned with no real suspicion to the uncertain voices. Before they could respond, I squatted down and begin to untangle the child free. “Can you walk?”

“Thank you,” that’s all the three voices echoed before they passed out.

I picked up the kid and looked around for any signs of where this child could have come from. My best bet was to follow the river up, against the current and hopefully find someone looking for them. I didn’t get too far when I spotted a cabin on the other side of the conveniently shallow part of the river. With no hesitation I walk across and then the scene changed.

In the Cabin

I’m inside the cabin, sitting on a chair beside a bed. I’m looking over the still unconscious toddler who’s laying in the middle of this full size bed covered with different blankets and pelts of fur. I can’t seem to take my eyes off of them even when I heard something outside the front door. Even when I heard knocking, my body was frozen still. It wasn’t until the front door swung open that my head turned toward it.

Nothing. There wasn’t anyone or thing there. I figured the wind must have pushed it open. Then fear set in. For some reason, I did not want to turn my head back to the kid. I stood up from the chair and without turning my head from watching the open door I walked toward it. My legs were ready to escape for the rest of me but my arms closed the door, instead, stopping me.

“Hi,” the three voices said again.

In control of my body, I turned to the bed and where I last saw the child a jaguar laid. The child was in the chair. They were speaking to the animal. It’s eyes where closed but ears were attentive.

“Are you okay?” I spoke. The jaguar opened it’s eyes and stared at me. “Little one, do you need help?” I risked saying.

“He’s your friend.” The voices said, “he doesn’t seem to like me.” The little kid started to shuffle in the chair and dangle his legs.

The jaguar shifted his sight to the child showing his teeth and growling low tones. The child turned to me and smiled the same smile as before and then started to change.

The Transformation

Sharp teeth grew too big to fit in the child’s mouth the skin began to rip. Their once brown youthful eyes began to redden passed the whites and glowed brightly. Through the knot and matted black hair long horns emerged tearing the skin around them. Their little hands lengthened and claws grew sharper than the teeth appeared in it’s mouth. It’s limb stretched and before the transformation was finished it’s skin began to bubble and burn into an evenly charcoal color. The little kid turned into a tall monster still smiling at me.

It seemed like it wanted to say something but the jaguar attacked and a fight broke out between them.

“He wants you to leave.” The monster translated for the jaguar. “He says you should leave and never pick up strays from the river.”

So I did just that. Without question I left the cabin and found myself by the river again. Walking along side it as I did when the dream started, but this time animals and children were clinging to the edge of the river while the water tried to drag them with the current. I was told not to pick up any more strays so I ventured inland away from the water’s ghosts trying to find a road to follow. Travelling through the thick forest a walk turned into a run when I started to hear screams and yelling. The faster I ran the louder they got and then I tripped. I was laying on asphalt. As I started to get up I looked to the right and all I saw were headlights.

Waking up From This Dream

When I opened my eyes from a blink, I watch the yellow car speed passed me. A bit confused of what happened I feel something warm push up against me. The jaguar moves in front of me. I can only assume he saved me from whatever was screaming and yelling before. He looked me in the eye and then put his face to my forehead.

“You are okay now.” I hear in my head a soft but deep man’s voice. “Go back home now,” He said as he pulled his face away from me. Looking at his eyes the white shine started to grow and brighten engulfing me. I opened my eyes and see the ceiling in my room.

I am awake now and Arthur, the house dog, is laying beside me squeezed between Ernie and I. He must have just put himself their since he’s awake too looking at me.

“Do you want to go outside?” I say to him and instantly he jumps down off the bed. I must really be awake now.

Thank You for Reading My Dream

I figured I would share this dream since it’s one of the more vivid I’ve had in a while. If anyone would like to decipher it by all means let me know what you think it means.

Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a lovely time on this beautiful day!!
